56 x 40 inches, acrylic on rag board (Framed)

San Francisco artist John Warren Travis is known for his delicate line and luscious brushwork and capturing the beauty of the local landscape. Travis pares down each landscape into halos of color, light and line work that captures the drama and mystery. There is an element of intimacy and meditation in these works alluding to the the shifting perspectives of grasses, flowers, vegetation, and leaves. Travis is Professor Emeritus from the Department of Drama, University of California at Berkeley where he taught Costume Design and Costume History for over three decades. He has won numerous prestigious awards for costume and theatre design and has translated his love of line, movement, and drama into his paintings for the last 15 years.
