Liséa Lyons is a New York based photographer well known for creating eloquent images that suggest memories found in simple and unexpected moments. Lyons often shoots outdoors to create mysterious and richly colored images that suggest larger narratives. In this piece, shot in 2003 in her home state of Florida, Lyons captures her daughter -- the primary subject of her work for over the past decade -- as she traces her portrait onto the glass storefront in an abandoned strip mall. Lyons had her daughter wear her grandmother's Brownie uniform from the 1950s. The amazing double reflection mirrors not only her daughter, but the passage of time, place and family. Lyons created a small-scale edition of this critically acclaimed image exclusively for the HMxAA Shop.
